Updated for WoW patch 4.3.3

If you are low on gold, I recommend you to try this Gold Making Guide, it can help you to make loads of gold.

If you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt, I recommend you to use a leveling guide. You can level your character to level 85 in 5 days with this guide.

You can use [Milling] to mill 5 herbs for 2 - 4 pigments.

If you are milling your own herbs, you should buy only Cinderbloom and Stormvine first because those can can be milled at skill 425. Skill 450 also allows Azshara's Veil and Heartblossom to be milled and you will be able to mill Twilight Jasmine and Whiptail at 475.

Just to note, there is a lot of other Glyphs and Scroll at different skill ranges with the same number of materials needed, so where you see [Glyph of ...] for example, there you can choose between more recipes that is orange to you and requires the same number of materials.

First, visit any trainer in the main cities of old Azeroth - just ask a guard, and learn Inscription.

Do not forget that 1 [Blackfallow Ink] can be traded for any Ink at Ink traders! You can level Inscription by using only Blackfallow Ink if it is cheaper than the lower level herbs. Using Blackfallow Ink is also a lot faster.

It's important to stop making this recipe at 129! You won't have the benefits of multiple skill-ups if you pass 129! If the recipe turns yellow at skill 145, and you make that Glyph at skill 144, you will still gain 3 points.

Turn your [Burnt Pigments] into [Dawnstar Ink]. If you didn't mill your own herbs and you don't have Burnt Pigment, you can just make any Glyph between 126-129 that is orange to you.

  • 382 - 385
5 x [Glyph of...] - 15 Ink of the Sea

There won't be any orange Glyphs for this part, this means that you will be making yellow Glyphs.

1 x [Northrend Inscription Research] - 3 Ink of the Sea, 5 Resilient Parchment, Snowfall Ink
  • 386 - 400
15 x [Any Discovered Major Glyph] - 45 Ink of the Sea, 15 Resilient Parchment

Visit your trainer and learn Inscription Illustrious.

  • 425 - 450

    115 x [Blackfallow Ink] - 230 Ashen Pigment

Stop making these when you reach 450, only make more if you need it.

  • 475 - 482
Turn all your Burning Embers into [Inferno Ink]. If you don't have any Burning Ember, just skip this part and start making the next recipe.
  • 482 - 490
Go to Vashj'ir - Kelp'thar Forest. Kill mobs there until you get [Technique: Origami Slime]. The drop rate is pretty high, don't get confused by wowhead data. The recipe will be green, but it only requires Resilient Parchment to make, which you can buy from Inscription supply vendors. If you don't want to farm the technique, you should make the recipe below.

    15 x [Dust of Disappearance] - 15 Blackfallow Ink

  • 490 - 500
Go to Deepholm and kill these mobs until you get [Technique: Origami Rock]. Same as above. Skip this if you don't want to farm it.

2 x [Etched Horn] - 8 Inferno Ink, [Scavenged Dragon Horn]

Scavenged Dragon Horns are sold in Twilight Highlands by Una Kobuna in Dragonmaw Port for Horde and by Casandra Downs in Highbank for Alliance. These vendors are only available after the initial Twilight Highlands quests have been completed. The quests require at least level 84. These items are not bound when purchased, so you can buy them from other players or from the auction house.

Do not forget that 10 Blackfallow Ink can be traded for 1 Inferno Ink at Ink traders!

Check your Calendar in-game to see if the Darkmoon Faire is open, the event starts at 00:01 on the Sunday before the 1st Monday of each month.

You can gain +5 skill points by completing a single quest. Click here to read more about the quests.

  • 510 - 520
The cheapest method would be to make [Forged Documents] up to 520 or 525. It has a 24 hour cooldown (it always resets at 0:00), but the materials are really cheap compared to the other items that you can craft at this skill level. This way it will take up to around 15 days to level Inscription.

If you really want to reach 525 as fast as possible, make 4 [Divine Companion] or [Battle Tome] or[Dungeoneering Guide]

Do not forget that 10 Blackfallow Ink can be traded for 1 Inferno Ink at Ink traders!

  • 520 - 525
Make one of the following items:

[Notched Jawbone] - 12 Inferno Ink, 36 Volatile Life, 12 Volatile Earth, Bleached Jawbone

[Silver Inlaid Leaf] - 12 Inferno Ink, 36 Volatile Life, 12 Volatile Air, Silver Charm Bracelet

[Tattooed Eyeball] - 12 Inferno Ink, 36 Volatile Life, 12 Volatile Water, Preserved Ogre Eye
